REBUILDING
OUR COMMUNITY

YouthBuild allows students invest in this community while following at least one of three vocational tracts: Information Technology, Healthcare, and Construction.

In the I.T. tract, students receive hands-on training to refurbish broken computers, and teach IT safety basics to senior citizens and children. Students also have the opportunity to acquire certifications in OSHA, CompTIA, and coding.

The Healthcare program offers CNA classes, as well as certification in OSHA, health & wellness, prescription drug safety, alcohol education, intro to caregiving, and DCFS mandated reporting.

In the construction program, students learn basic construction skills while giving back to their community by creating safe, affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families. Participants devote half of their time at YouthBuild to the jobsite, where they rehabilitate up to 8 homes per year. Students receive a general overview of all skills from framing to finish, as well as OSHA, First Aid, and CPR training. Students are offered the opportunity to put their skills to the test and earn recognition from the National Center for Construction Education and Research.
